Farmers Market Thursday 091814

Thursday is the day for the market in our little neighborhood.  It runs from 3-7 and it is much smaller than the large one we went to in Ballard.  After school the kids and I walked over to the market and purchased lots of berries -- blueberries, red raspberries, and these amazing golden raspberries.  We piled our bags with peaches and pluot plums and gala apples.  We got fennel and kale and zucchini and cucumbers and more.  It is all local farms and though it's a little more expensive the flavors are infinitely better.

One street of the market is all produce and home made pastas and wines.  Then another street over is food trucks and vendors.  There was even a brick fire pizza oven set up which was very cool to watch.  I let the kids pick an item they wanted and the both picked nutella crepes and LOVED them.

Many families gather on the lawn and get a pizza or some other amazing dish and eat dinner while listening to live music.  This week's band was a foursome of an accordion, two violins and a guitar.  Children were just running and dancing, feasting on fresh berries and of course Noah found some trees to climb!!!  (side note -- the weather is quite nice, he is just very attached to this sweatshirt and wears it all day every day....)

We grabbed some fresh kielbasa for dinner (mine with spicy mayo and caramelized onions) and walked home.  It was lovely!

Of course so you don't think it's all sunshine and smiles....  Maeve was invited to go to a playground with a neighbor but Noah had boatloads of homework to do and couldn't go.  Meltdowns ensued.  But we finished our endless packets of math and spelling... yuck.
