Sunday 090114

Sunday morning we got up and headed to church at Union which is an experimental offshoot of University Presbyterian.  This church plant in the downtown area doubles as a coffee and chocolate shop during the week.  It was hip and urban with an underlying presbyterian feel.  Paul had been there before and was eager to share it with us.  We walked over from our apartment and it was very cheerful and friendly with Starbuck's coffee and fruit and snacks for the kids.  The service was contemporary in nature but followed a general reformed layout.  It was very mixed generationally and somewhat diverse.  Overall I thought it was a great experience and I know we will give it another try!

After church we grabbed lunch and walked to the waterfront to get on the Bremerton Ferry.  It was the weekend of the Bremerton Blackberry Festival and we thought it would be a nice Sunday afternoon activity.  The ferry was cool and we saw sea lions lounging on the buoys as well as some other sea life including dolphins.  Of course the mountain views were stunning.

Once we got to Bremerton we found our way to the festival.  It was nice but not amazing.  They had blackberry donuts, blackberry pie, blackberry ice cream, blackberry wings.....  Noah had a blackberry snow cone and Paul and I shared a blackberry lemonade.

Later Paul had blackberry jalepeno wings for dinner and we enjoyed blackberry mojitos.  At a lot of restaurants now (here and back east) they give out these wax sticks instead of crayons and you can mold them. We got these again here for dinner and Paul made a little zoo.

There was a lot of country music and bad puppet shows but it was a nice stroll through a new place!

We got back on the ferry and enjoyed our beautiful ride back to the city.
